DIY Holographic Stick

I might be a little obsessed with highlighters right now… I have been on the hunt for the perfect DIY Highlighter and this time I wanted to see if I could make a DIY Holographic Stick! Spoiler alert, it turned out great! This is a four ingredient DIY that is so easy to make it’s almost shocking. I swear, before I got into making DIY beauty products I thought the makeup I found at the store was basically made with magic, the thought of being able to make this stuff in my own kitchen wasn’t even on my radar. It turns out that a lot of this stuff is completely easy to make and only requires a few steps to make a genuinely great beauty product. This DIY Holographic Stick is no exception! This is a great DIY for you if you have been enjoying the holographic trend as much as I have!

⬇️Check out the video on Youtube HERE or watch below ⬇️

DIY Holographic Stick

Add in 2 Tbsp. of beeswax. The pellet type works the best!

DIY Holographic Highlight Stick

Add 1 1/2 Tbsp of coconut oil. (Maybe more but we’ll get into that in a moment!)

DIY Holographic Highlight Stick

MICROWAVE! It took me about 2 minutes to get the mixture completely liquefied.

DIY Holographic Highlight Stick

If your mixture is still too waxy add in as much coconut oil as you need. You can test out the mixture by allowing it to cool a bit and trying to rub it into the back of your hand. If it seems to turn right back into beeswax you need more coconut oil, but if its workable and warms with your body heat you have the right consistency!

DIY Holographic Highlight Stick

Add in a few drops of vitamin e oil. I added 4 drops.

Now it’s time to add your iridescent mica powder! I specifically bought a pale purple mica powder for this DIY, and I mixed it with my favorite iridescent blue mica powder. You can use any color of mica powder you’d like, but if you’re trying to recreate the Milk Makeup highlighter, I suggest this combo:)

DIY Holographic Highlight Stick

I wound up adding about 2 Tbsp. of mica powder which is A LOT OF MICA POWDER! Maybe it’s the beeswax? But this just soaked up the mica powder, it took a lot to get the mixture to look holographic. Test as you go on the back of your hand to come up with the right amount.

DIY Holographic Highlight Stick

You can also add in loose eyeshadow to alter the color if you’d like. I added a dash of sparkly pink eyeshadow because I wanted to!
DIY Holographic Highlight Stick

All you have left to do is to pour your mixture into your container! Before you do this though, your mixture will have hardened a bit (because of the beeswax) so you’ll have to re microwave it just before pouring.

Thats it! This is such an easy DIY Holographic Stick! I hope you try it out for yourself, because you will not be disappointed!

DIY Unicorn Tears LipstickWelcome to another day in the land of unicorn obsession! Today I thought I’d show you a DIY Unicorn Tears Lipstick since the original Too Faced Unicorn Tears lipstick is sold out everywhere I’ve looked. This DIY Unicorn Tears Lipstick is the closest DIY dupe I’ve ever made, and I’m really excited for you to try it too! I’m always surprised at how easy it is to DIY dupe makeup products and this is no exception, it is so so easy to make and so worth the effort

Watch the DIY video on my Youtube channel HERE, or continue reading

Lets get started!

DIY Unicorn Tears Lipstick

Take a lip balm and put the contents into a heat safe bowl. I recommend using a plain twist up chapstick like this one⬇️

DIY Unicorn Tears Lipstick

Now we have to add some color! The original Unicorn Tears Lipstick is a pale blue color, so thats what I was going for. I chose to use a blue eyeshadow to add color, but you could also use a blue lipstick. Either will work! Add a tiny bit of blue to your lip balm.

DIY Unicorn Tears Lipstick

Now it’s time to add in a teaspoon of iridescent blue mica powder! This stuff is incredible, it’s what will give your DIY Unicorn Tears Lipstick thats beautiful shimmer.

DIY Unicorn Tears Lipstick

Microwave the mixture until it’s completely liquified. This took about a minute for me. Stir the mixture well after removing from the microwave.

Test your mixture along the way.

Just let it cool off a bit and swatch it on the back of your hand, add more blue coloring or mica powder if you need.

DIY Unicorn Tears Lipstick

I definitely needed more mica powder, so I added another teaspoon.

DIY Unicorn Tears Lipstick

Before pouring microwave your mixture again as it’s probably started to solidify a bit.

Pour your Unicorn Tears Lipstick into the container that you picked out, let it cool for 45 minutes and you’re done!

(Make sure the container is fully twisted down before pouring if you are using a lipstick or lip balm container)

This is without a doubt one of my favorite DIY’s ever. I cannot believe how beautiful this actually is.
