NYX WHIPPED LIP SOUFFLE

Today I thought we’d have a chat about high end makeup versus affordable beauty buys.

It’s been months since I bought one of my current favorite lip products, a light pink balmy matte delight from Yves Saint Laurent. Yves Saint Laurent’s Baby Doll Kiss and Blush is a dream product for me. It’s low maintenance, tastes delicious and somehow perfectly combines an almost matte finish with a hydrating twist. But for some reason whenever I find myself in a Sephora with plans to buy another color for my collection, I freeze and walk out of the store empty handed. It’s because this delicate little bottle costs 40 dollars, and I can’t seem to take the plunge again. Now I’m not saying I don’t adore this product, because I do!! I reach for it all the time and I have absolutely zero complaints about it- other than the aforementioned price tag.

The other day while having a leisurely browse through Ulta I found NYX’s Whipped Lip & Cheek souffle, and all but threw my 6 dollars at the cash register. I could tell right away that this was the YSL dupe I was looking for and I happily sauntered out of there without looking back.

I have since been using this almost religiously. It looks beautiful as a wash when patted on the lip lightly, and equally as stunning when applied boldly. There are subtle differences, one being that the YSL one smells THE BEST and the NYX one is completely lacking in the scent department. But for 6 dollars the NYX Lip and Cheek Souffle is a great buy, especially if you aren’t sure you’re ready to shell out 40 dollars on the YSL one just yet.
